Rother District Council is responsible for the planning strategy for the whole of Rother, with regard to commercial development to bring economic prosperity and with regard to residential development making Rother a good place to live.

Rother District Council consulted the first time on its plan to 2040 for the period of 12 weeks to the 24th July 2025. It consulted the public and other bodies on the proposals for this new plan.
